Hockessin is located on the far northern tip of Delaware, near the Pennsylvania border, and has a rich history dating back to the late 1600s. The town is home to Delaware's first Roman Catholic Church, as well as other historic sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Cab Calloway, the famed jazz musician, and bandleader who now has a performing arts school named after him in nearby Wilmington was Hockessin's most famous resident. The Ashland Nature Center, the Mt. Cuba Center floral gardens, the Marshall Steam Museum, and the Delaware Museum of Natural History are all popular attractions in and around Hockessin. The Fourth of July festival is Hockessin's most popular yearly event, with local groups marching down Old Lancaster Pike and communities competing in various sports activities. Swift Park has a fireworks display to round up the day.
There are several excellent local restaurants in town, ranging from ancient restaurants and pubs to fine dining and all in between.
